The Public Consultation Committee to hear from SME owners and organisations in the Seanad Chamber.
I have been appointed Rapporteur to lead in the compilation of the Report for the Public Consultation Committee in relation to small and medium sized businesses.
On Tuesday next the 13th of November, the Committee, through its public consultation, will hear directly from SME owners and organisations in order to identify and evaluate the key challenges for SMEs, such as: access to finance; recruitment and retention of suitably qualified staff; ongoing training/skills development challenges; building strong routes to market; broadband and connectivity; and the cost of doing business in Ireland among other things.
We will also review the existing business environment in Ireland, including the role of State agencies; SME national policies, Government policy; EU policy for SMEs; and finance and banking for business.
The Committee will draft a report which will seek to address the challenges experienced by SMEs by using a culmination of thought leadership from multiple stakeholders and research analysis to create a national strategy proposal to support the fostering, growth and sustainability of indigenous Irish SMEs.
The report will make findings and recommendations and when published, the Committee will seek a debate with the Minister in the Seanad.
You can watch live here @ 2:30pm next Tuesday the 13th November 2018
